food, personal thoughts

people eat too much protein and it's ridiculous that my mind just thinks it's ok and good if it has a lot of protein because of how it's portrayed as a penultimate nutrient

@root i've been thinking about this a lot too. like high protein is automatically a sign that it's good?? but i'm not sure i agree eating as much protein as possible is like right at all? idk tho!! have you come across info on the topic bc it would be nice to unlearn those weird perceptions.

food, personal thoughts

@mo excess protein has been tied to issues with the liver and kidneys for overworking as well as cancer in meat related proteins for whatever reason? it just is something that needs to be taken into account and moderated like all things. some much much more than many would believe

food, personal thoughts

@mo i mean im not a nutritionist or doctor im not saying don't do this or that but the amount of common info for food that is missing or just outright incorrect is startling

food, personal thoughts

@root i hear you tho! and amen to moderation... i try to balance my food groups and certainly don't eat as much protein as ppl think we should eat and probably more fat. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@mo @root the issue probably stems from a lot of ideas of nutrition being based around hyper-active gym culture where you MUST constantly be working towards like 0% body fat and just be shredded which in itself is a complete misunderstanding of how the human body works and isn't even how bodybuilders do it

@nutt @root yeah!! true... & there's this whole instagrammer turned health expert phenomenon that perpetuates that kind of misinformation.
